Instrumental Music Programs
We have a vibrant Music program at St Monica's that gives each child the opportunity to explore the joy, beauty and challenge of music. All students from Reception to Year 6 have one Music lesson each week with a specialist music teacher. Students from Year 3 onwards are taught to play a variety of tuned and untuned instruments including recorder, ukulele, keyboard, glockenspiel and bucket drums. Our class of Year 6 students also participate each year in the annual Catholic Schools Music Festival where they perform a variety of songs in a combined choir at the Festival Theatre.
Students may elect to learn an instrument 1:1 with one of our external instrumental tutors who visit our school each week. This program is offered to students from Years 1 - 6 during school hours. Those learning an instrument are invited to perform at school assemblies and at our end of year Instrumental Music Recital.
Students are invited to join our Performance Choir in Years 4 and 5. This choir often represents our School at public functions within our local community, at our assemblies and the end of year concert.
