Term 2 Week 9
Dear Community
St Monica’s Master Plan – has been Approved
I am very pleased to inform you that St Monica’s Master Plan, for buildings and facilities was approved this week. The Plan has 3 Stages that will include, refurbished learning areas, specialist Music and STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) facilities, large multipurpose hall, and new administration facilities.
Stage 1 includes: the refurbishment and extension of the downstairs Early Years classrooms; the reconfiguration of the current Library area to provide a 2 level library and 2 additional classrooms; the demolition of the building housing the Music and Year 6 classrooms, and toilets, providing space for new student toilets, an undercover play area connecting to the current playground area on North East Road, and an additional large classroom upstairs.
The School Board is very keen that this first stage commence as soon as practicable. For this project to go ahead the school will need to be successful in being granted Government Capital Development Funding. The next round of applications for Capital Grants will be next year for 2023.
The Plans will be available for community viewing in Term 3.
Semester One Reports will be sent home next Thursday 1 July, at the end of the school day, via the eldest child in the family. If you have any questions or wish to discuss any matters regarding your child’s progress, please make a time to speak with your child’s teacher(s) early in Term 3.
Many thanks
Thank you to the Parents and Friends Committee for organising a community Morning Tea this morning and to everyone that attended and to those who sent their apologies. I feel very blessed and humbled by your generous words and well wishes as I prepare to leave this amazing school community. I want you all to know that the children, staff, and families of St Monica’s Parish School community will always have a special place in my heart which I will treasure.

All adults, including staff and parents, are expected to COVID SAfe Check-In when entering classrooms/buildings on site. At this stage it is not necessary to check-in at the school gate to enter school grounds.
The check-in system has important benefits in being able to respond to new cases and hotspots quickly and accurately.
Please note the COVID SAfe Check-in is purely for SA Health contact tracing purposes and does not replace your normal visitor sign-in process. All guests including parents who are entering the school facilities are required to sign in at the front office/reception on arrival
Congratulations Genna Harrison, Annabelle Hickson and Samuel Pascual who recieve the Sacrament of Confirmation last week. The celebration was lead by our new Archbishop Patrick O'Regan.

All schools are required to collect information about the numbers of students that they provide adjustments to under the Disability Discrimination Act (1992) and Disability Standards of Education This data is used as the basis for national funding.
The NCCD involves the collection of;
- the number of students receiving adjustments to enable them to participate in education on the same basis as other students
- the level of adjustment provided to students
- student’s type of disability if known
Under the model, the definition of disability is broad and includes learning difficulties, health and mental health conditions. If your child is identified for inclusion in the Collection, the required information will be included in this year’s data collection. If you have any questions about the data collection, please contact Sarah Morris on 83442384.
