Term 1 Week 1
Welcome Back!
We speak to the children about positive mindset and being resilient individuals and the return to school has certainly challenged us to do this – again!
I would especially like to welcome all new students and families to St Monica’s. We are a better place because you are a part of our community.
New community members include: Maggie, Ava, Joshua, Aaliyah, Kai, Emma, Jacob, Saanya, Sanav, Evaan, Divanea, Rayan, Thanh, Ariel, Emilia, Lucas, Elias, Ezekiel, Oliver, Valentina, Alara , Zahli, Arav and Riera.
I would also like to especially welcome new staff member Mrs Emily Monaghan who will be co-teaching with Sarah Morris in Year 6 on Monday and Tuesdays and on Thursdays and Fridays with Jim Mihelios in the Year 5 room.
Whilst we have only had three days of online learning, please contact us if you are having any challenges with this and we can contact you to work through the issues. Your child’s class teacher would be a good starting point.
Once we return to ‘normal’, we have some exciting times planned for our school this year. We will be having great times coding and creating adventures with our new robotic devices (Spheros and BeeBots), participating in Engineering Challenges and Tournament of the Minds will start again. We will be working with the CESA project ‘Stretch” for children of higher potential. We will be exploring our character strengths and learning how by knowing these, how we can maximise our potential and enhance our relationships with others. The landscape designers are coming back to visit to share with us their draft concept plan for our front play space. Our student voice will be our other expert consultants in this process. There is so much I want to share with you but I will leave some for our next newsletter.
I hope that you all have a wonderful weekend and look forward to seeing everyone returning to school for Face-to-Face learning on the 14 February 2022.
God’s blessings,
Emily
